WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Raskin’s Democracy Summer program, which is training and mobilizing the next generation of Democratic organizers and leaders, will return in 2025 with Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) and Rep. Maxwell Frost (FL-10) joining the Democracy Summer leadership team as Senate Chair and House Co-chair, respectively.
Democracy Summer expanded nationally for the first time in 2021 in an historic partnership with the DCCC and multiple campaigns of Democratic Members. Last year, more than 110 House Democratic campaigns joined Democracy Summer to recruit a new generation of Democratic political activists and leaders across the country, training over 1,000 college and high school students in 45 states to participate in a full-blown pro-democracy, pro-voting rights curriculum led by policy experts, historians political leaders, academic luminaries and community organizers.
“There is a real hunger for a new generation of leadership to step up in our politics. I saw it last year as I ran for Senate and it’s critical that we do everything we can to make sure that new voices are at the table everywhere,” said Sen. Kim. “Democracy Summer is one of the best tools we have to equip young leaders with the skills and resources they need to create lasting change. I’m thrilled to bring this great program to the United States Senate and look forward to working with Representatives Raskin and Frost to grow our movement across the country.”
“Young people aren’t just the future of our democracy—we’re the present. Our generation has led the charge on gun violence prevention, climate action, and fighting for working people. But to turn our energy into real change, we need the skills, networks, and organizing power to win,” said Rep. Frost. “Democracy Summer is a proven force for building the next wave of leaders, and I’m honored to expand it with Rep. Raskin and Sen. Kim as we train a new generation to take on the toughest fights ahead.”
“Democracy Summer has been the heart and soul of my campaigns since I entered politics. New generations are an unstoppable force for change, and they will provide the energy and presence on the ground that we need to defeat Trump’s GOP, dismantle the MAGA agenda, and defend constitutional values in 2026 and beyond,” said Rep. Raskin. “I’m grateful for the inspired leadership of Sen. Kim and Rep. Frost, and I’m delighted to have their partnership as we expand Democracy Summer to our friends in the U.S. Senate and train another class of Fellows to sustain a lifetime of democratic political engagement.”
2025 Democracy Summer applications will become available in mid-March at JamieRaskin.com/DemocracySummer.
