As a candidate for Congress, I pledged to hold this Administration accountable to the law and the American people. Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have been accessing government computer data systems that hold the personal data of every American. They have been hiding behind evasions and misrepresentations to avoid coming clean with the American people about what personal data they are collecting and what they are doing with it.
The law allows every American to hold our government to account and to demand to know data the government has about us. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has issued an injunction commanding DOGE to comply with citizen requests under the Freedom of Information Act, which includes the Federal Privacy Act of 1974.
I personally submitted a request to DOGE to learn what data of mine they are holding. And I will continue to uphold the campaign pledge I made to you to fight for the rule of law on behalf of all of us. That means I will continue to hold Elon Musk and DOGE to account and to defend the legal rights of Americans to protect our privacy and establish the security of our private information.
