Defending the Labor Movement and the Right to Organize

Jamie has been an effective champion for the working women and men of Maryland.  As the first Chairman of the state’s Higher Education Labor Relations Board, he wrote the rules that gave more than 8,000 people the right to organize and engage in collective bargaining on the state’s college campuses. Jamie knows that unions are essential to strengthening the middle class, reducing inequality, promoting healthy workplaces, and sustaining a democracy that works for everyone. But the national labor movement has been under assault for decades. A constitutional law professor for a quarter-century, Jamie will put his extensive knowledge of federal labor law to work in Congress.  He’s proposing five creative ideas for revitalizing unions and ending the right-wing assault on labor. For more details on Jamie’s plan to fight for workers, please read his detailed Labor Day statement and position paper here.
